Cannot be Put Into Words

"Words have value;
what is of value in
words is meaning.
Meaning has something
it is pursuing,
but the thing that
it is pursuing cannot
be put into words
and handed down."

- Chuang Tzu (c.4th Century B.C.)

a line from robert hass's poem "spring drawing," which i've just recently encountered, keeps speaking in my mind, unraveling something and certainly takes voice again after reading chuang tzu, " if radiance were the meaning of meaning."

what you create here, andy, is beautiful and valuable. thank you.
