Cannot be Put Into Words

"Words have value;
what is of value in
words is meaning.
Meaning has something
it is pursuing,
but the thing that
it is pursuing cannot
be put into words
and handed down."

- Chuang Tzu (c.4th Century B.C.)

a line from robert hass's poem "spring drawing," which i've just recently encountered, keeps speaking in my mind, unraveling something and certainly takes voice again after reading chuang tzu, "...as if radiance were the meaning of meaning."

what you create here, andy, is beautiful and valuable. thank you.
